amimono horinouchi knitwear

A crafty chap from Tokyo is knitting sweaters featuring the likes of Blondie and Bowie. Future heirlooms, no doubt.

There are some items of clothing that you put on and never, ever want to take off – like super-soft socks, undies perfectly sculpted to the shape of your bottom, and/or a knitted jumper featuring Debbie Harry’s face. The latter is available through a crafty chap in Tokyo – Amimono Horinouchi, a graphic designer by trade, who discovered the joy of stitching back in 2012. Since then, he’s created sweaters aplenty (Bowie, DEVO and Blondie all feature in the range) and various other knitted bits and bobs, including a John Waters tote bag and a Wednesday Addams coin purse. A handful of pieces are currently available for purchase at his online store (for a very pretty penny, be warned), while the rest of the collection can be inspected over on his website.
