a drink of one’s own: cocktails for literary ladies
Delicious booze recipes inspired by great lady authors? Bottoms up, we say!
As we hurtle rapidly towards the end of Friday, we thought it only fitting to offer you some cocktail recipes inspired by some of the greatest lady authors of all time. The recipes are the brainchildren of Laura Becherer and Cameo Marlatt, and appear in their beautifully illustrated compendium A Drink of One’s Own: Cocktails for Literary Ladies. There are 50 cocktails to make in total, including those inspired by well-known scribes (such as Maya Angelou and Simone de Beauvoir), and others inspired by less-known but nevertheless extraordinary writers (such as Murasaki Shikibu and Louise Welsh).
Direct yourself over this way to purchase a copy of the tome for yourself, or head over here to check out recipes for the hot buttered rum Margaret Atwood cocktail, the zesty gin-based Zelda Fiztgerald cocktail, and plenty more.
Very lovely watercolour pics by Savannah Marlatt.
