a date with joy

Instead of a packed schedule of appointments being a source of mild headaches and moans of displeasure, PopUp, a calendar app, sifts through your schedule for any hidden opportunities for joy.

US design firm IDEO were given the tricky challenge of transforming Mondays into more likeable Mon-yays, and they’ve certainly filled the brief with this pair of phone-bound prototypes: PopUp and Notifly. Instead of a packed schedule of appointments being a source of mild headaches and moans of displeasure, PopUp, a calendar app, sifts through your schedule for any hidden opportunities for joy, like the chance to make a new pal in your morning meeting, or an ace thing to look at near your local drycleaner. And just to dial the dullness back a bit more, rather than bombarding you with ear-piercing alarms, Notifly alerts you of your next meeting by gently blowing out a reminder bubble. Pretty cute, huh? To see videos of both in action, head here.
