Tell us about your brand. Established in 1996 by two self-confessed nerds, Madman Entertainment is Australia and New Zealand's leading independent film and television distribution and rights management company.
What do you do? We showcase the best in independent content and special interest genres, including Australian film, world cinema, documentary, TV, kids, anime, sports and more. Plus, we have two awesome streaming services, DocPlay and AnimeLab!
Why did you want to be involved with the frankie Good Stuff awards? We’re all about discovering and nurturing creative talent! We’ve pioneered and championed the careers of some of Australia and New Zealand’s most exciting new and established directors, including Taika Waititi, Justin Kurzel, Jennifer Peedom, Rachel Perkins, Maya Newell and Ariel Kleiman.
What makes you well suited to sponsor the video category? With 21 years of business under our belts, we like to think that most of the time we know what’s up. We’re experts in the marketing, sales and production of video content for wide and niche audiences (like That Sugar Film and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, for instance).
Is there something you’re hoping to see in the entries for that category? Diversity. Diversity is key! We’d love to see entries that appeal to a broad range of Australians. Female stories, queer stories, multicultural stories, Indigenous stories and more. We also want to see exciting new forms of video, suited to the many new forms of platform distribution popping up.
If you could create an entry of your own, what would it be? A four-minute karaoke-inspired clip showcasing our love for Ben Mendelsohn.
