Oh goodie, new indie tunes. Melbourne based duo, Matthew Wright and Kitty Hart are Young Heretics who love warped pop music and sonic invention. Their music is super theatrical with haunting dual vocals on their first track The Lost Loves. They’ll be playing a few gigs in Melbs – one on 1st May at the Curtin Band Room, the other on Sat 23rd May at The Toff in Town. We think we likey.

Fashion label Limedrop has taken things up a notch with their new Autumn Winter ’09 collection. The Huntsman range is inspired by the heroic actions of yesteryear when huntsman rescued damsels from the ravages of the cold winter woods. There's lots of leotards, floaty dresses, pleated skirts, oversized twist neck jumpers and drape cardigans, woollen v-jumpers, flannelette shirts, dinner jackets, relaxed pants and straight leg denim. If this tickles your fancy, head to their brand spankin’ new online store.

When Jesse Willesee holed himself up in an array of cheap hotel rooms to paint works for his last two shows, he kept wishing he could pop his paintings on the walls and have a show in whatever hotel room he was staying in. He approached Sydney’s iconic Darlo Bar with the idea and on May 14th will showcase his paintings in their hotel rooms to, “pay homage to how the work was created.” Seven art deco hotel rooms will be adorned with his looming poster-sized prints, each connected to the real people who will be performing scenes in each room. Come from 6.30pm for nice drinkees and feet-tapping tunes. |

Plus we hit up the kids of today about life, politics and bedtimes. There’s lots more, so hop, skip and jump down to your nearest newsagent and nab your copy. |
