We’re chuffed to be helping out the lovely folk at tinygold (a not-for-profit artist-run initiative based on the Gold Coast), who are holding their annual Tales from the Cold Ghost from August 1st till the 22nd. The exhibition’s aim is to help get exposure for all QLD’s talented local artists. This year, artists are creating with all sorts of materials including cane toad leather (Linelle Stepto) dishwasher sponges (Carly Kotynski) and moulded wax (Simone Eisler). As well as the exhibition, the ladies behind the event are organizing an arts-networking day, an artist talk and a fashion parade during the exhibition period. The program is chockas with stuff for all creative types, so if you’re in town head over to tinygold for some lovely arty inspiration.

We’re pretty damn excited to announce frankie is supporting Semi Permanent, New Zealand on August 14th and 15th. Semi Permanent, for those not sure what we’re on about, is a two day event, where some of the best design talents in the world, share their accomplishments. New Zealand’s line up this year is looking very special indeed, with speakers including James Jean; a New York award winning illustrator, Kate Moross; designer, illustrator, director, record label pioneer and Philip Hacker from Studio AKA; an animation production company based in London. There will also be side events including the heart of misery exhibition at Plaything Gallery on Thursday 13th. And guess what? We have two double VIP passes to Semi Permanent (worth 500 bucks each) to give away. Just tell us what creative person makes you giddy. Email by August 5th for your chance to win.

I have a friend who has a thing for tea towels. She loves them and requests a new one every time a friend takes off on an overseas jaunt. I’ve just found one more to add to her collection. If tea towels aren’t your thing Susan from Spin Spin Made also screen prints goodies including soft toys, buttons and cushions. All her work is made by hand with an emphasis on eco-friendly inks and packaging.

Ooh look a new range of wearable art! Have a little squiz at fine artists Belinda Kemp’s range of lovely pendants and brooches. Her wearable pieces are a little deviation from her usual mixed media paintings. They are hand drawn and painted with acrylic paint and pencil on wood {and mat-satin varnished for UV protection} Pop over to her etsy shop for more details.
