Does tea taste better in bird-shaped tea bags? No idea, but it looks super fun.

PAVEMENT AT GOLDEN PLAINS

It’s no secret Golden Plains is one of our favourite Aussie festivals (friendly campers, one awesome stage, a ‘no dickheads’ rule), so even though it seems pretty far away on the horizon right now – the 2010 event will be March 6th to 8th – we were pretty excited to hear them announce today that their first headliner will be the reunited alt-rock supergroup Pavement. Pavement were pretty much the most influential indie band of the 90s and we can’t wait to hear their lo-fi stylings pumping through the Supernatual Amphitheatre come March. Woo hoo!

As senior writer Benjamin Law’s long-time partner, Scott Spark is definitely a permanent member of the frankie husbands’ auxiliary. He’s also a very talented boy in his own right, being a piano-playing crooner who knocks out sweet tunes that sound like Ben Folds and Rufus Wainwright had some very skilful and biologically impossible offspring. He’s currently featured here on Triple J’s Unearthed page so pop past, have a listen, and review and rate his tunes. High ratings help boost his airplay and, Ben says, “his ego”!

We met Fashion Hayley at our photo book launch last Thursday night. Fashion Hayley is a Melbourne chick who lived in Tokyo for a year styling and taking photos. Now she is back home doing her own thing and writing a daily fashion blog about her thoughts. She is really sweet and we like sweet fashion people.

Wouldn’t to be nice to pop into Alice Springs this Friday night to see Lucy Hope’s exhibition. Her pieces are all original and inspired by fantasy, fashion and small angry animals. I Stole The Rabbit is happening at Olive Pink Gardens and will run for two weeks. Because Alice Springs is so remote, you can also view the exhibition and purchase pieces on Lucy’s blog.

Dagmar Rousset is a little shop in St Kilda that has started a great little online store. Yay for bringing a little bit of Melbourne to all of us. Dagmar Rousset hates sweatshops, flash-in-the-pan trends and disposable fashion and instead sells garments and accessories which are made with ride in Australia. She stocks Donna Sgro, Limedrop, Kuwaii, Not Today, Igor and Katya to name a few. Pop by take a look.
