swap shop

A few weeks ago we got an email from a nice lady called Rita from Brazil, who’d been
sent a copy of frankie through a swap organised on a site called swap-bot. We’ve had
some time to look around now and, just quietly, we’re totally freakin’ hooked. Basically,
you log in and sign on for a themed swap – art, books, craft, clothing, music or what
have you – then the ‘swap-bot’ randomly selects another person in your group for you
to mail something fun to, and someone else mails you a box ‘o’ goodness in reply.
Swappers are from all over the world and there’s all kinds of stuff to swap.
Yay and yay again x

The Way We Wear

Holy moley. I went to one of these The Way We Wear Fairs in Brisbane a while ago
and it was literally like falling into some down-the-rabbit-hole vintage wonderland
full of everything from 19th century gloves to ‘60s sundresses and earrings from the
1980s. So. Much. Fun. I walked away with bags full of secondhand lovelies. (Maybe
too many in my case, I seem to remember being a bit poor after that!) Anyway,
Sydney has its turn this weekend with a two-day fair at the Hunters Hill Town Hall
on June 28 and 29. Then there’s fairs Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide over the next
couple of months. Check their website for details – definitely one to pop in the diary.

The Melbourne International Design Festival, Strength in Numbers, presented by the National Design Centre is about to begin. Running for a whole 10 days, from 17-27 of July, you will find yourself so immersed in the beauty of design, you will have enough inspiration to last you the entire year. The festival will include, special guest speakers, competitions, exhibitions and of course the not to be missed Design Market. This is one program you have to take a squiz at. SAVE THE PINK BATHROOMS

Here’s something to love without irony. Save the Pink Bathrooms does exactly what it says on the label, agitating for the preservation of vintage pink bathrooms everywhere. There’s even a tip sheet on renovation and colour matching. Drool, drool.
