The online magazine Blanket have been busy bees lately. They have been collating
artwork from around the world and have now created a giant patchwork poster. The
collectors' edition Blanket patchwork poster forms a retrospective of the various artists
that had been uncovered by them since their launch in December 2006. Each poster
comes in a sleeve with a unique origami fold that represents a blanket being turned
down. Inside the sleeve is an accompanying insert that is a quick reference guide to
all the artists featured on the poster. The poster is available for $15 (plus postage)
at the Blanket Magazine online store. What a way to keep creatively warm!
Melbourne artist Fleur Harris has a new website up and running. It features an
extensive gallery of her sketches book and finished artworks. She also has a limited
edition range of plush characters, Kooky Spooks that can be purchased from the
site – well worth having a squiz x

| Don’t sweat it frankie fashionistas, when we say green is the new black, we don’t mean literally. We’re talking about going ‘green’ in terms of being environmentally friendly when it comes to fashion. If you happen to be one of frankie's spring chickens and are still 18 or under, you have a chance to re-evaluate, re-image and re-create the consumer experience through design. Ambiguous Horse is re-launching their Don’t Sweat Shop at the Melbourne International Design Festival. They will be running workshops where participants will have the chance to design and create their own garment from recycled materials and in doing so, will learn about sustainable manufacturing practices and their role as ‘end users’ in the clothing industry. Go green you frankie trend setters!!! |

There’s an opening do tomorrow night (Thursday 17th) with live music, lots of pretty things to look at and limited edition prints, original art and other goodies for sale. But for the eager beavers who just cannot wait, the show is actually on from today, Wednesday 16th till Tuesday 22nd July at The Front Gallery and Cafe, Wattle Street, Lyneham. It’s gold coin entry and what’s more, all profits go to the uni’s graphic design graduate exhibition so merely turning up will make you a patron of the arts. Such cuteness in the capital! |
