This is the thread for posting about gigs that are coming up. Please post concert and gig dates and information in THIS thread instead of creating new ones. It will be easier for people to locate information about upcoming shows.

Ahh I really want to! Jeff Lewis, Dinosaur Jr, Thermals, Hungry Kids of Hungary...but I don't think I will, it's going to be expensive. It's bad enough that I have to pick between Yo La Tengo on the 16th and Pains of being Pure at Heart on the 20th.

MAD POLLY + ASHLEIGH MANNIX
BRASS MONKEY, CRONULLA. SAT 1 MAY 2010.
Tickets: $10 presale, $12 on door. http://www.brassmonkey.com.au

Mad Polly – http://www.myspace.com/madpollymusic

The two stunning beauties Mel Creagan and Bec Sandridge from the South Coast village of Stanwell Park, are now joined on stage by double bassist John Wynne and drummer Ben Livermore! Teaming their love of music together to create hippy shaking shenanigans and foot-tapping grooves, these cruisey kids have created wholesome songs of personal life experiences, shaped by their down-to-earth lifestyles. Camping, surfing, traveling, gigs and chilling out with friends and family is what these kooky cats love.

What happens at the hoe-down: Melissa-vocals, guitar, clickedy-clack clicking, pots n pans, glockenspiel, percussion and shakers. Bec- Lead guitar, backing vocals, 12string, slide, ukulele, percussion, harmonica, foot stomping and wolf-whistling. John Wynne- Double bass and a tantalizing touch of wah waaaaah. Ben Livermore- Drums, a bit of cow to the bells and tambourine.

“They say madness is the price of greatness, in the case of folk group Mad Polly the wisdom rings true.” Yen Magazine, April 2010.

Ashleigh Mannix - http://www.myspace.com/ashleighmannix
Hailing from a cultural mix that combines the NSW South Coast and the ACT, Ashleigh Mannix is a singer songwriter who is a fresh face to the Australian music scene. With her carefree nature she is combining folk and pop genres to create a unique blend of music that is attracting both local and global attention. Ashleigh is an independent artist and until mid 2008 had no releases in stores. It was her strength as a live artist which caught the attention of the music industry. She was invited to perform at the relaunch of The Rolling Stone magazine where she was introduced as “unknown and unsigned” performing alongside Neil Finn, Powderfinger and The Living End to a packed Horden Pavillion.

Ashleigh has performed at local festivals including Woodford, Peats Ridge, Festival of the Sun, Stonefest and the Narooma Blues and Roots. She has also performed extensively overseas including performances in France, Spain, Hawaii and at the prestigious Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. A direct result of the Fuji Rock performance was a record deal in Japan with Pony Canyon and Surf Rock International. The first single from this Japanese Album went to No. 37 on their national charts and reached No. 2 in Kobe on Kiss FM. She has supported both national and international acts including Tim Freedman (the Whitlams), Lior, Lisa Mitchell, Ron Sexsmith, Abby Dobson, Toni Childs , Mark Seymour, Teitur, Luka Bloom, Josh Pyke, Robert Wells and Michael Franti and has just returned from the US and Canada where she was showcased in Toronto and Ann Arbour. Ashleigh is sponsored by Billabong internationally and performs at their events worldwide and has opened for MGMT at the Spider Club in LA.
“The most exciting artist I’ve heard in forever…” Mia Freedman - journalist, columnist, and author.
