erin k

After completing an Advanced Diploma of Jewellery Engineering in 2005, Erin Kilty launched erin.k jewellery from her home studio.  Erin uses silver, gold leaf, fine wire, crystals, pearls, plaster, paints and leather to create unique pieces – just like the hairdressing scissors necklace she made for a mate recently. She also makes lovely little owls too and lucky for you, she wants to give one away. Just cross your fingers and This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. let's spoon

Some collect spoons, others make jewellery from them, like Miss Tory Bauer. The Spooning Society takes spoons from the cupboards of grandmothers and collectors across the globe and turns them into beautiful bracelets, earrings and necklaces.

hey billy

It's been kicking around the web for a while now, but we can't go past the organic, earthy beauty that is Billy Bride Jewellery. Each piece is not only ah-mazing to feast your eyes on, but also has metaphysical healing qualities. With names like Myst, Titan and Apollo, no two pieces are the same. We were lucky enough to have a little chat to the lady behind the wonder, Renee Warne as she answers a few questions for us:

Where did your interest in crystals come from? As a little girl I felt a strong emotional connection to crystals. The first boy I ever kissed gave me a beaded quartz pendulum to hang by my window, and I wore a woven pouch of tumbled moonstones around my neck as a teenager. Crystals have always held an enigmatic pull over me, I can feel myself getting lost in their simultaneous lightness and depth, their energy and calm. How important is the idea of craftsmanship and handmade elements in your work? Each of our stones are un-cut and in their naturally occurring forms, no two crystals are alike, so handcrafting each setting is essential. I'm continually sourcing new materials from around the country, and recently I'm including more exotic pieces too; Black flecked quartz from the prayer mountains of Tibet, Herkimer Diamonds unearthed in New York state, and corroded float copper from the lakes of Michigan. Each of these minerals have individual qualities that need to be treated in a particular way, so we work with every crystal on a one-on-one basis. What can we expect from your next collection? Billy Bride is evolving organically, the new range is really an extension of the initial concept, each piece enhances the original core aesthetic. I hope to introduce some unexpected ways to wear jewellery and encourage people to embrace experimentation!

story teller

So this site begins with …a tale in two parts… already we're intrigued! Story is a creative space on the interweb where you can browse, shop and generally get inspired by awesome things. The 'two parts' of this site are basically a store and a blog-type-thing, where you are given sneak peeks into upcoming products and other lovely things. Get ready for menswear, ladies clothing, jewellery and art. Pretty radical to get lost in.

Essentially it is a collective of five Melbourne-based jewellers who came together at LMFF.
