If you’ve been spending your day looking at an ugly computer screen,
here’s something pretty to give your eyes a nice rest on a Monday afternoon.
MyPetSquare’s skivvy dress looks equally ready for the ‘70s-style ski chalet
or your next fondue party. Or, possibly, Olivia Newton-John convention.
It’s all warm, fitted and snuggly and ready to be ogled at the MyPetSquare
website. RRP $110.

Here’s something I learnt today. During the mid-1800s, when hooped skirts
and crinolines were getting bigger and bigger, someone took out a patent “for
a garment inflated by means of bellows and deflated to enable the wearer to sit
down”. Sadly it didn’t catch on, but plenty of other wacky undergarments did
as you can see on the pages of the V&A website. If you’ve ever been lucky enough
to visit the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, you’ll know it’s full to the brim
of art and design objects – everything from classical sculptures to Vivienne
Westwood platform shoes, with collections in photography, textiles, homewares,
furniture, fashion and architecture. I’ve only just discovered their website (and
its weird undy facts), and it’s almost too overwhelmingly full of awesome stuff
to even consider logging on without at least five hours of spare time up your sleeve.

Is anybody else getting Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo flashbacks looking at these
new top ten hi tops from Adidas Originals? Mine were so intense that I went and
tracked down this little beauty on YouTube. I think my favourite part is the dancing
patients and surgeons, but I’m sure everyone will have their own highlights. (The
pink leotards are also ace.) Anyway, for a bit of ‘80s breakin’ action you can nab
yourself a pair of these old school cuties for $170. They’re not released till July,
so you’ve still got some time to work on your body-popping moves before
they come out.
Some winter mornings are so cold that leaving the warmth of your bed seems
positively brutal. In such situations I have in the past actually daydreamed about
fashioning some type of garment out of my doona, possibly stapling it around
myself chunky-toga style, or maybe a simple tube dress. So imagine my chuckles
of joy when I saw this little dollop of puffy cream loveliness from Arnsdorf.
Snuggly indeed. Wonder if you can get it Arctic-grade with goose down stuffing?
Hooo-mamma! Sydneysiders, rub your hands and do a little jig. Soon you too will
have your very own American Apparel store in which to purchase snazzy basics, jackets,
dresses, togs, accessories and underwear. It’s opening in July, so watch this space for
more details, and in the meantime check out Melbourne’s Chapel Street store or
you can shop online.
Hot on the heels of exclusively stocking 18th Amendment’s diffusion line The
Beautiful and Damned Sportsgirl announces its latest collaboration in Sydney-based
designer Kate Hurst and her eponymous label. The one-off collection titled Settle
Petal is inspired by the floral shape of the tulip and presents a gamut of energetic
designer looks. There are hints of 70s prom goes 80s glam in the 10-piece collection
– quirky and femine (sounds like frankie). Kate Hurst for Sportsgirl is available at
selected stores from July. Not long now! Prices range from $89.95 – $289.95.

| The vest is one garment that has definitely been taking the test of time. It's in, then out and then in again. According to Boski the vest has passed the test of time with flying colours…and we at frankie couldn’t agree more. Boski is a Melbourne-based fashion label that is inspired by simple objects, vintage propaganda, celebration and everyday beauty. Oh how very frankie of them!!! |

Hello boys. We’ve found a new shopping website that might appeal to the more lackadaisical among you. Lazyguy was set up under the assumption that most blokes don’t really want to spend hours shopping for good stuff to wear and would rather bag it all in one spot with minimum muss and fuss. With a mix of local and international brands including Meet Tyrone, Jon Pumper and David and Goliath, it’s well worth a looky-loo. |
