Green porno

There’s always been something very slinky and awesome about Isabella Rossellini. (And a little disturbing, as anyone who’s seen Blue Velvet can attest.) These days, over at the Sundance Channel website (how did we not hear of this thing of fabulousness before?), she’s writing, directing and starring in Green Porno, a series of very short films about the sex lives of bugs. Believe us, it’s more fun than it sounds. There’s lots of Lycra, lots of moaning and lots of random trivia to pick up and impress people at the pub. Did you know a snail’s bum is right next to its head? Neither did we.

WOW WOW’S SONG

frankie readers might know writer Justin Heazlewood from such articles as ‘Selling 30’, ‘The Other Island’ and ‘Dear Blog’, and talking about nylon slacks a lot in pretty much all his stories. On the musical comedy circuit, though, Justin is known as the Bedroom Philosopher and (we’re told) rocks right out in a piss-funny way. You can see him in action for yourself as his new track “Wow Wow’s Song” is currently the featured video on YouTube. The film clip is directed by Charlotte George (The Audreys) and animated by Leigh Ryan (Skipping Girl Vinegar). He’s also joined by Tripod on vocals, Harry Angus (Cat Empire, Jackson Jackson) on trumpet and Richard Cartwright (Richard In Your Mind) on sitar. In fact, most of his friends apart from us – which is probably a good thing as our voices scare small children in neighbouring suburbs!

petite watermelons

It always makes me giggle at what you find aimlessly wandering through cyberspace. Go see how a bunch of lime skins, jelly, choc chips and a little ingenuity can create these petite watermelons. So very, very appropriate for your next party.

feed the film fishbowl

Sydney based store Dobry Den is about to relaunch it's film projector, running nightly through the window of their store on Crown Street, Surry Hills from 6pm - 3am. They are looking for submissions to run, from video-clips, short films, animation, collated stills, blatant self promotion, or even your favourite you-tube videos (an oldie but a goodie – ours is below). Pop them a line and pull up a perch at the bus-stop outside to see what special video treats are in store.

Jen 11

More than a million women were named Jennifer within the span of just 15 years. From out of relative obscurity, the name exploded so much that in business press, this phenomenon is actually known as The Jennifer Demographic. For artist Jennifer Khoshbin and many others, sharing a name can make it difficult to feel unique. Welcome to the Jen11 Show; an exhibition born, says Jennifer Khoshbin, from both a serious curiosity and a simple novelty.  Khosbin along with ten other Jennifers exhibit their artistic ability and challenge whether members of this Jen-eration have unknowingly grown into a common artistic sensibility. Unfortunately most of won’t make the exhibition in Canada, but to purchase the exhibition book for the Jennifer with everything, click here.

fancy pants

Ooh-err. These are a bit frisky aren’t they? Cute cherry patterns, a big fat bow AND a saucy peep hole. So far they’re ticking all our knicker boxes. Which sounds a bit wrong, but you know what we mean. They’re 25 bucks from Hopelessly Devoted  and there are plenty of other pretty knick knacks to choose from should this not tickle your fancy. Or someone else’s…
